Hawaiian-Pacific Collection Changes

Please note that as of Spring Semester 2014, the library's Hawaiian-Pacific collection of books will be limited to library use only; books within this collection may no longer be removed from the library.

ebrary access to Random House books

On Wednesday, August 21, the library's major online book service ("ebrary") lost the right to provide access to approximately 1,300 ebook titles published by Random House.

If you find that you are no longer able to access an ebrary title that you need for a course, please contact the library so that we can look into purchasing a print copy for the collection.

TED Videos @ Chaminade

Did you know you can watch over 500 TED videos within the library's Films on Demand service? Not familiar with TED talks? Click here for an overview...

Films on Demand also has videos from several different television news sources (e.g., NBC, ABC, BBC) and includes videos on lots of different academic subjects (e.g., psychology, business, communications, criminal justice).

Library Catalog Upgrades

The library catalog received some useful updates over the summer and it now provides:

1. Book covers in search results -- helps you locate books on the shelves!
2. Table of contents -- get an idea if the book has the content that you need.
3. Book summaries -- brief summaries of the book.
4. First chapters -- review the first book chapter online to see if it's what you need.

Please note that not all books listed in the catalog will have all of the additional information, but many should.
