The library's proxy server - which provides access to the journal databases - will go down for maintenance sometime today. Access to the databases via the library's website & the WebPortal will be affected.

Unfortunately, we do not have a specific time for this maintenance shutdown, nor the length of time it will take.

The Macaulay Library at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology has one of the world's largest online archives of sound and video of various animals - including mammals, reptiles, fish, arthropods, amphibians and birds. Some Hawaii fauna are also included (i.e. elepaio, i`iwi, Hawaiian monk seal):

Access to Research Databases

You can access the library's research databases these different ways:

1. Search by subject or title from the library website using the Search For link in the left sidebar.

2. Search each database from the new web portal using the tab Resources > Research Databases.

3. Search by subject using the OneSearch page.

Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace- One School at a Time/ by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin

Linda said: What amazed me is that this man lived in his car while all his money went to support his goal. Mortenson had been climbing the K2 mountain in Pakistan, was sick, got lost and stumbled upon a village whose people cared for him. He observed the village kids learning in the open air (too cold to learn in winter) and promised to return to build a school. Mortenson typed (with a typewriter!) letters soliciting donations. This humble beginning grew into the Central Asia Institute foundation and the construction of more than 70 schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
